For us at First Assembly, we don't simply consider giving to be a duty or requirement of our faith. It goes much deeper. We believe in the principle of the tithe, we've seen it's reality demonstrated in the lives of people throughout our congregation. In Malachi 3:10, God Himself invites us to test Him in this: our faithfulness in giving will make a way for God to reveal His faithfulness in everything.
For us, though, giving is more than a give to get scenario. It's an opportunity for us to show God and the world that we truly trust Him with every part of our lives. Finances is a hard thing to let go of, and as we release our monies to the Lord, it is symbolic of our complete trust in God. It is moment each week where we can say to God: "I trust You more than I trust me."
Our prayer is that through this offering, whether through our support of missions, our compassion funds, or simply keeping the doors open and the lights on at our building, someone somewhere will be drawn away from darkness and into the light of His Kingdom, His Hope, His Peace.
May God bless you as you give!
